Our Mission is to Help Our School Be Green!
Central School has done an amazing job implementing regular green initiatives for all the students that were previously arranged by the Environmental Awareness Committee. These include composting in the cafeteria (now done at each lunch period), recycling used markers, and collecting materials that need to be specially recycled such as batteries, light bulbs, and power cords among other things.
Central School also has a “Green Team” made up of interested and dedicated 4th graders with a few of our wonderful staff to guide them. For these reasons, the Environmental Awareness Committee will now focus on helping build the relationship between our Green Team and our wonderful outdoor classroom/garden. There are so many ways to increase the students’ awareness of environmental issues and solutions within the outdoor classroom and garden of Central School and we are very excited to assist in this connection for the children. The Green Team then shares their ideas and looks to include the rest of the student body in their green efforts throughout the year.
